The Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board has identified four levels of real property appraisal classification as recommended by the AQB.  The State of Florida does not permit distance education for pre-license appraisal courses.  However, the State DOES permit distance education (online courses) for continuing education.

Effective 12-1-06 there was a new mandatory course added within the 30-hour continuing education requirement for Florida Appraisers.  Florida Appraisers needing to complete continuing education by 11-30-08 must take the following:

Mandatory

• 3-hour mandatory Florida Real Estate Appraisal Law and Board Rules course
• 7-hour mandatory USPAP Update
• 3-hour mandatory Florida Supervisor/Trainee Roles and Relationships

Elective

• 17 hours of specialty courses such as:
  • FL Appraising FHA Today (7-hour)
  • FL Appraising the Oddball (7-hour)
  • FL Developing & Growing an Appraisal Practice (10-hour)
  • FL Dirty Dozen (3-hour)
  • FL Disclosures and Disclaimers (5-hour)
  • FL Income Capitalization (7-hour)
  • Fla Made in America - Manufactured Housing (7-hour)
  • The Cost Approach (Florida version) (7-hour)
